BALALAIKA LESSON
+ ABOUT THE ARTWORK
With Balalaika Lesson, I wanted to explore music as a form of connection and transmission. Learning an instrument is not only about acquiring a skill; it is also about receiving something from another person and keeping it alive through practice and sharing.
The balalaika therefore becomes more than a musical instrument. It acts as the central link between the figures, suggesting teaching, listening and the passage of knowledge from one person to another.
The geometric composition gives the painting a rhythmic quality, reflecting the structure of music itself. Rich blues, terracotta tones and luminous yellows create a vibrant atmosphere in which the figures become symbolic participants in a shared musical experience
