TWINS
+ ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Twins grew from my long-standing fascination with twins. I have always been intrigued by the way two people can look remarkably alike and yet, at the same time, remain different. This subtle contrast between similarity and individuality became the starting point for the painting.
The two figures stand side by side in a mirrored arrangement, suggesting a close relationship and a strong sense of correspondence. Yet the forms and details are not completely identical: small differences emerge within their otherwise similar appearance, reflecting the individuality that exists even between two people who share so much.
The circular elements and repeated forms reinforce the idea of similarity and continuity, while the variations within the composition prevent the figures from becoming exact copies of one another.
The figures are deliberately simplified rather than presented as conventional portraits. Through them, I wanted to explore the particular bond between twins — the fascination of being so closely alike while still remaining two distinct individuals, each with their own identity.
